This poster deals with the issue of overfishing. Excessive fishing affects marine ecosystems worldwide and has led to collapsing fish stocks as well as many other sea creatures and organisms. To illustrate the impact of this ecological disaster on the Earth’s oceans, the world map is presented in the form of a fishing net to convey the idea that overfishing is closely related to the depletion of the global ecosystem. Accompanying net hauling is a massacre of the world’s marine ecosystems. The tiny boat in the poster is to highlight the possibility that any act of fishing may cause an irremediable disaster. The white nets stand out against the bright red background, which leaves the impression of a warning, thus making the message very clear.

Begründung der Jury

The idea for the design of this environmental poster is clever and highly original. It was realised in the style of informational graphics, and makes use of clear and simple forms and colours. This visual reduction gets straight to the heart of this serious issue and thus the poster manages to attract a high degree of attention.
