This work symbolises the fusion of traditional and new media. Wood is used to represent the old media, as wood is the main raw material for papermaking, and thus of books and newspapers, while solder represents the new media, as it is used in making electronic equipment. In order to combine these two materials, holes were drilled into the wood and then filled with solder. These holes form a kind of pixel font, designed to create words characterising the Internet era: identity, big data, innovation, digitisation, globalisation, dependence and emotion.
