Landscape of the Boundary

The structure of the installation “Landscape of the Boundary” is visually inspired by the sight of rows and rows of bamboo poles sticking out of the sea, a common scene along Taiwan’s coast. It is made of just over 2,000 Taiwanese Moso bamboo and Makino bamboo poles. The core element of the installation integrates poles of Moso bamboo, which grows high up in the mountains. Whereas bamboo scaffolding has traditionally been tied together with rope, for this installation the project team came up with a way of connecting the bamboo poles using metal structures.
