The design idiom of the Jiou-Chuan-Tang Hot Pot restaurant is modelled on the teachings of Zen in that it merges contrary elements into a unity. The exterior of the building is defined by an ironwood grating with different spacing and line dislocation expressing the beauty of imperfection. The first interior space features tables arranged around a stone basin highlighting a massive yet floating appearance. The second interior space impresses with a wooden ceiling that looks like a wave frozen in time and a vivid interplay of light and shade.
