TaiKoo Hui Sustainable Toilet & Baby Care Room

This design concept was created to upgrade the TaiKoo Hui shopping mall situated in the CBD of Guangzhou, China. Adopting the appearance of a grotto, the public underground toilet intends to offer visitors “a contemporary abstraction of nature”. Furthermore, it is also aimed at raising environmental awareness in the public realm. The baby care rooms now feature improved facilities and a playful design. The original layout underwent minimum alteration to allow for a seating area and an additional baby room. The resulting kinked passage and simplified arches extend the “grotto” concept.
