Red Dot: Junior Award

Part of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is the Red Dot: Junior Award, which is intended for up and coming young designers. Apprentices, students and young professionals (up to two years post-graduation) run the chance to apply for the distinction “Red Dot” with their works in 18 categories .

The talents must show proof of their apprenticeship, a student identity card or a copy of their diploma in order to get a 20% discount on the registration fee. They can enter projects, regardless of the date of origin.

Besides the distinctions “Red Dot” and “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, the jury  awards the honorary title “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, endowed with 10,000 Euros. It goes to the best project of an up and coming young designer.

Morover, all laureates of the Red Dot: Junior Award receive a 40% discount on the Winner Package. It includes the presentation in the yearbook, in the Winners’ Exhibition, online and in the Red Dot App.

Especially young designers have fresh ideas and produce outstanding creative works. Therefore, the Red Dot: Junior Award aims at providing creative young professionals a successful start into the world of design and to make access to the industry and agencies easier for new talents. Being awarded with the Red Dot gives them the opportunity to communicate their success towards the media. This is why the participation in the competition is a great chance to strengthen the trust of potential clients in the creative achievements of young talents.

The registration fee for the Red Dot: Junior Award 2017 includes the following services:

  • Acceptance and storage of the submitted work
  • Preparation of the information provided
  • Preparation of a jury dossier
  • Presentation of the project during the jury session
  • In the case of an award: storage until the winners’ exhibition

(includes the insurance for the work during return, if the insurance sum was indicated during the registration of the work)

In case of an award, booking the “Winner Package” is obligatory. It includes the following services:

In addition, laureates can book optional enhancements and further communications materials, such as sticker, displays, etc.

What is the Red Dot: Junior Award?
The Red Dot: Junior Award is part of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design.

Who can participate in the Red Dot: Junior Award?
Up and coming young designers (up to two years post-graduation) can participate in the Red Dot: Junior Award. Applicants must show proof of enrolment in an institution of higher learning or vocational school or a copy of their diploma.

What is eligible for the Red Dot: Junior Award?
In the Red Dot: Junior Award, works and projects can be entered in 18 categories, no matter when the project was created or published.

How do I submit my work for the Red Dot: Junior Award?
You can register your work in four steps via the My Red Dot portal. Our “How to enter” video clip explains how this works. Further information on the registration is available in the “Guides to Success” , which are tailored to the respective category.

How will my work be judged?
The projects of participants in the Red Dot: Junior Award are evaluated by the Red Dot Jury. The jurors will be explicitly informed that it is a work by an up and coming designer.

The international experts assess all entries live and in situ. The works are not compared directly against each other, and no preselection takes place. Each project is evaluated individually and on its own merits. From all projects, which received a Red Dot: Best of the Best in the Red Dot: Junior Award, the best work is selected at the end of the jury session. It is granted the Red Dot: Junior Prize.

Does only one young designer receive an award?
All participants in the Red Dot: Junior Award have the same chance to be awarded with a Red dot or Red Dot: Best of the Best. The up and coming designer with the most convincing project receives the honorary title “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, endowed with 10,000 Euros.

How can my university support me?
Unfortunately, it is not always a matter of course that students get financial support from universities. In case your university wants to support your submission, we are happy to answer any questions or provide more information.

    我的作品会如何被评选?

    新秀作品的评选方式,原则上与红点传达设计大奖所有参赛作品相同。然而,于评审现场,评审会被告知哪些是来自红点新秀的设计作品。当所有奖项的结果底定后,会再从来自红点新秀的红点最佳设计奖得主中,票选出「红点新锐设计奖」获奖者。每位评审委员皆需参与此特奖投票。

    如何向我的学校申请协助?
