Inspired by ancient Chinese pottery figurines, the illustration series concentrates on female characters. The composition and colour range of the pictures, as well as the garments and the makeup depicted, disclose a great deal about the lives of women more than a thousand years ago. The figures were hand drawn and digitally coloured. By combining traditional and modern techniques, the illustrations adopt a distinct style, rich in detail, with both an ornamental and an expressive character.
