China Solar Terms Food Culture

Based on exact astronomical observation, the 24 solar terms of the Chinese calendar have been used since time immemorial for guiding agricultural affairs and other aspects of human life. The ancient knowledge about the annual motion of the sun, which was officially incorporated in the UNESCO list of immaterial cultural heritage in 2016, is appreciated by the present series of illustrations. The meticulously drawn images display numerous products of the rich Chinese dining culture in order to show that the traditional calendar system is still effective today.
