Stephen Chow, a leading personality of Hong Kong’s and China’s comedy scene, has created Mo Lei Tau, a phenomenon of postmodern culture. The poster series was inspired by the deliberately incongruous humour connected with this character. The illustrations show the same face but with different personalities. Through the use of different clothing, the stereotypical characters are introduced and exposed. With their classic and timeless style, the motifs appear harmless at first glance. Only upon closer inspection, the black humour, which is characteristic of this comedy style, becomes apparent.
