Born in 1942 Co-founder and leading director of A&E Design AB, Stockholm. The Swedish industrial designer Hans Ehrich was born of Swedish and German parents in 1942 in Helsinki, Finland, and raised and educated all over Europe: in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. He studied metalwork and industrial design at the National College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfackskolan), Stockholm, from 1962 to 1967. In 1965, his studies as a designer took him to Turin and Milan. In 1968, with Tom Ahlström, Ehrich was a co-founder and director of A&E Design AB, a company which he still heads, and between 1982 and 2002, he was managing director of Interdesign AB, Stockholm. Ehrich designs for Alessi, Anza, Arjo, ASEA, Cederroth, Colgate, Fagerhults, Gustavsberg, Jordan, Norwesco, PLM, RFSU, Siemens, Turn-O-Matic, Yamagiwa, and many other companies.
His work has been shown in exhibitions and collections all over Europe and in America and Japan. He has received numerous awards: Swedish State Award to Artists, Industrial Designer of the Year, Excellent Swedish Design, Classic Design Award, Roter Punkt für höchste Designqualität, Design Preis Schweiz, and numerous other national and international design awards.
