Martin Darbyshire is founder of the international design consultancy “tangerine” based in London and has nearly 30 years of experience in the design sector. Before founding “tangerine” in 1989, he joined Moggridge Associates and worked in San Francisco at ID TWO (now IDEO). Most notably, at “tangerine”, Darbyshire led the multi-disciplinary team that created both generations of the “Club World” business class cabin seating for British Airways – the world’s first fully flat bed in business class which, since its launch in 2000, has remained the profit engine of the airline. “tangerine” has recent design experience in both the rail and car industry for Heathrow Express and Toyota. Martin Darbyshire was a board member of Icsid from 2007 to 2011 and is an international conference speaker and industry spokesperson on design and innovation.
