For the design of the Titanium PowerBook G4 new materials and processes were investigated. The Titanium "skins" combined with a carbon fiber frame resulted in a stiff and light product. Although the 15.2" display is larger than the conventional 14" display typically shipped with this class of product, the overall package is still surprisingly small. The Apple PowerBook G4 Series sets new standards for portable design and performance. These notebook systems outperform comparable systems both in processing performance as well as the utility provided by the full array of features including a slot load DVD drive, full I/O and a 5 hour Lithium-Ion battery.
