The iMac G4 is a space saving all in one computer designed to optimize the benefits of a flat panel display. The 15" LCD flat panel display is supported above the hemispherical computer base by a stainless steel neck. The slim active-matrix display has close to the same viewable area as most 17" CRT displays and has twice the brightness, sharpness and contrast with no flicker. The ultra-compact 10.6" base efficiently houses a custom-designed circular logic board that fills the base allowing space above to fit in a full-height optical drive such as the Superdrive which can burn DVD's. On top of the optical drive is a high-capacity 3.5" hard disk drive which is flanked by the power supply, a split design that tucks neatly into the top of the base. With two FireWire ports and five USB ports the iMac G4 was built to be a hub for the digital lifestyle. Making it easy to connect the iMac to digital cameras, printers, scanners, external hard disks, joysticks or an iPod. Easily accessible behind the metal access cover in the base are slots for additional memory and an AirPort Card.
