Mountain Cabin in Laternser Valley
The small tower building rises from the steep hillside at the edge of a wooded ravine beneath the wooden home of the local Catholic Community of Sisters. Both striking and modest in appearance, it emerges out of a small dip next to a narrow path on the fringes of the forest. The only alteration made to the hillside is the access route. The terrain has otherwise been left unchanged.
Statement by the jury
»This tower-shaped mountain cabin is strikingly, but discreetly bedded in the landscape. The modest, distinctive design creates a feeling of familiarity and difference at the same time.«
