Red Dot: Best of the Best

Thoroughly well thought out

The growing number of parties and public events brings with the problem of mountains of rubbish produced in a short period of time. It is vital to have sufficient rubbish containers available. The problem is compounded by the fact that the volume of waste is often difficult to calculate in advance. The concept for the DropBucket waste bin perfectly addresses such situations and offers a thoroughly well thought-out solution even for unanticipated shortages. The functional waste bin is based on a simple, folded cardboard structure. It is simple to transform into an attractive, pyramid-shaped container that easily fits into its surroundings. Assembly is intuitive and large numbers of bins can be put up within a short period of time. The DropBucket is made of robust corrugated cardboard, consisting entirely of recycled material. A water-resistant coating ensures that the cardboard does not get soggy with moisture. Impressively, the concept for this waste bin is based on closed-circuit processes – once the bin is full, it can be used as a cost-effective, disposable container. It is easy to compress and dispose of with the rubbish. That protects the environment and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Its successful, functional and aesthetic design makes the innovative DropBucket waste bin an impressive product.

Statement by the jury

»The DropBucket waste bin offers a very functional and coherent solution for straightforward waste disposal at events. Both concept and design are impressive. In hardly any time at all, folded cardboard changes into a practical, aesthetically appealing waste bin that communicates its purpose at first sight. Once it is no longer needed, it can be disposed of easily along with the rubbish.«
