The definition of the term “work” takes centre stage in this New Year’s greeting card, based on an attempt to create a historically accurate and sociological definition with texts from Bacon, Locke, Diderot and Marx. The name of the agency, beierarbeit, was used analogously to this, as in colloquial German it can also be understood as being “at work” or “bei (d)er Arbeit”. The design was crafted with labour-intensive hand lettering using brushes, quills and ballpoint pens. The greeting card was produced in letterpress on Gmund Cotton paper and edged in neon orange to add an effective highlight.
