VI5IONS – Fifteen Years of Pioneering Spirit

Zurück Download

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the Berlin-based gallery Deutsche+Guggenheim commissioned a retrospective publication that was given as a thank-you gift to the principle project participants – and in particular to the exhibiting artists. Its title, VI5IONS, represents a strong, distinctive logo and combines the names of the first exhibition, “Visions of Paris”, with that of the anniversary exhibition “Visions of Modernity” to celebrate the 15 years of collaboration between the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and Deutsche Bank. The concept of “connectivity” can be found throughout the entire design of the publication. It mirrors the collaboration between both institutions alongside the interaction between the artists, the building and its visitors, and becomes visible in the form of converging text, superimpositions and interleaved content. Though the publication comprises over 250 pages, it remains highly organised, gives due space to the artistic works and exhibits a meticulously designed and exquisitely crafted implementation down to the last detail.

Begründung der Jury

The sheer size of the book VI5IONS is impressive from the outset. Generous photo series or the smaller intermediate pages presenting the table of contents for the next chapter make clever use of the format. Overall, the design convinces with its harmonic balance of text and images as well as the high-value production and a cover binding that is pleasing to the touch.
