Thomson Reuters Olympics iOS App

This iOS app was developed for agency Thomson Reuters on the occasion of the London Olympic Games. As a multimedia platform for photographic coverage, it served 80 on-location photographers, enabling them to publish their daily shots of the games and offering a myriad of background information as well as the latest news. Users could easily customise the content, check on all sporting competitions and the results of individual competitions, as well as individual athletes via a well-structured interface. Featuring a clean and functional design, the app thus presented itself as a day-to-day real-time spectacle of the entire Olympic Games. In addition, the iOS app integrated well with social networks: the Facebook Open Graph, for instance, allowed integration into the Facebook timeline and there was the possibility to tweet and share favourite images. Journey mapping provided the foundation for contextual features that led to 500,000 downloads via iPhone, iPad and Web in the first three weeks of the event.
