Knock Code

Zurück Download

A central element regarding the interface design of this smartphone is the function called “Knock Code”. It allows users to turn on and unlock the phone’s screen in one simple step by using an individual pre-set knock pattern. By means of a combination of multiple taps, this pattern-based lock system offers users both convenience and security. Requiring just a few taps on the display, the Knock Code system unlocks the smartphone when recognising the individually pre-set tapping sequence, giving the user access to the home screen. The personalised Knock Code ensures a high degree of security as the pattern is virtually impossible for observers to recognise. Since the Knock Code can be set by combining four virtual positions on the smartphone and consists of a range from a minimum of three taps to a maximum of eight taps, there are more than 80,000 possible combinations.

Begründung der Jury

With an impressively simple solution, this interface offers users a novel method of personalising the unlock process of their smartphone without having to remember a digit-based pin code. This creative design solution places the aspect of touching centre stage when unlocking the phone, an act that is almost intuitive. Facilitated by a visual memory effect, all that is needed are a few taps.
