FuZiFuZi Letterpress

This interactive installation visualises the old letterpress tradition in the Republic of China (Taiwan). The art of using moveable type for setting and printing may soon be forgotten due to technological advancements, and with it the distinctive aesthetic feel that this art form imparts. In fascinating images, the installation draws attention to the cultural connotation of this tradition-steeped craft, thus reviving public interest. By resorting to a contemporary form of communication, the installation is aimed in particular at sensitising the younger generation to this culturally important topic.
