The Red Dot Jury
The works and projects entered in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design are evaluated by the Red Dot Jury. Only independent designers and design experts are appointed to serve as jurors. No one can apply for it. The experts commit themselves to a “Code of Honour”: They are not allowed to submit their own work or cooperative projects in categories in which they take part in the assessment of the competition entries. This prevents conflicts of interest as the members of the Red Dot Jury do not judge their own achievements nor those of direct competitors.

In order to cope with the internationality and diversity of the competition entries, the panel comprises experts from various fields and cultural areas. Without pre-selection, they scrutinise and evaluate all works individually and on site. Thereby, the projects are not compared directly with each other. The intensive examination and critical exchange with each other enable a profound final decision. Only projects which convince with their design quality and creative performance are awarded with the Red Dot seal.
