Manuel Alvarez Fuentes studied industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, where he later served as director of the design department. In 1975, he received a Master of Design from the Royal College of Art, London. He has almost 40 years of experience as a practising designer in the fields of product design, furniture and interior design, packaging design, signage and visual communications. Since 1992, Manuel Alvarez Fuentes has been director (senior partner) of Diseño Corporativo (diCorp), a design consultancy office in Querétaro, Mexico. He has acted as consultant and advisor for numerous companies and institutions and also as a board member of various designers’ associations, including, for example, as a member of the Icsid Board of Directors from 1999 to 2001, as vice president of the National Chamber of Industry of Mexico, Querétaro, from 2007 to 2011, and as director of the Innovation and Design Award, Querétaro, in 2007.
