The constantly increasing complexity of air traffic in international airspace calls for new systems and interfaces to control the airspace consistently for safety reasons. The design of the CWP V3 / Evolution responds to this need with a simple and, for air traffic controllers, easy-to-understand concept. All functions are consistently integrated into one elegant, clearly arranged housing. The working position features an intuitively operated interface that allows the controller to interact directly with the multi-touch screen, or indirectly (traditional mode) in such a way that the screen is vertical and the controller interacts through a keyboard, a touch pad or a tablet computer. This option ensures enhanced safety as the control unit can thus be removed to continue controlling even in the case of something unexpected happening in the control room. This versatility also allows the controllers to more easily adapt to the shift towards gestural interfaces. A key innovative aspect of this system is that it offers the possibility of switching between different work modes and functional requirements needed in a modern control room. All configuration changes can be performed within five seconds electronically and silently. This working position for air traffic controllers thus perfectly adapts to various control room needs – it smartly conquers new paths by responding to the increasing complexity in this field with an elegant solution.
